#5 Passion in grain (Lemon drops)
"When Passion has shrunk as to fit in a grain of sand"
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
100 g long-grain rice
250 ml chicken stock
juice of 1 lime
It has become ingrained: curious glances into oil reheated & darkened, soft touches of the hand once bold & arousing now discarded with the outer skin of onions and garlic. When all these moments of passion are fixed on the back of your eyes you cannot see me. Add the rice and stir gently, I'd rather have you have me forcefully.
And to wait for another outburst of tears over unfounded fears brings to the boil something between you and me. I don't want to wait for every tear to be reabsorbed instead I'm choosing to change.
Sprinkle in the lime juice drops. I fork my way in and fluff it up. Those moments of passion begin to taste differently.
